I love brunch – especially my Mama’s Sonia desayuno típicos that are guaranteed food comas! Don’t tell Mama Sonia on me, but I just might have discovered a bruncheon just as delicious, afterall the panza needs love and this tanchi has the best of both worlds – platanos fritos and waffles!
Think the Willy Wonka of breakfast with a guest chef – Donkey from Shrek. In the morning, “I’m making waffles” and not just any waffles.
This past Sunday – J Public Relations hosted, with Neiman Marcus, a Fall 2013 preview of trends at the US Grant Hotel with San Diego Style Bloggers over brunch. The menu at the Grant Grill included a buffet of eggs, bacon, sausage, sweet potatoes, and flavored waffles! There were flavors meant to entice the taste buds such as Kit-Kat and Hershey with toppings of maple syrup, banana caramel, berry compote, and shaved chocolate that were to die for!
That was only the beginning to a fabulous brunch bringing together industry #fashionnerds in San Diego. Behold – a fashionsita’s dream Fall 2013 wardrobe: Gucci, Fendi, Louboutin, and so many more were strutted down the runway by models – in this Fall 2013 display, Alejandro Yanez points to the trends Rocker Chic, Violet Fem, Animal Magnetism, Red as the new Neutral, and Lace Noir.
I’m such a fan of suspenders! I own them in black and white and I’m excited to see it become a hot trend this Fall! This model is wearing a classic, single sole, pointy pump – that’s right, it’s the return of the point! Chains and details such as skulls create the androgynous look.
Sweatshirts with a traditional influence, yet done in a couture way will be seen! I’m excited to see that the #1 easiest panza cover up trick will be made chic! This model is wearing a black crinkled patent Theory sweatshirt (a total borrow from the boy) rocked out with a black Burberry Britt biker jacket with silver detail.
This gorgeous look is topped with rooster feathers and shades of blue and violet. The Pants are Gucci with a marvelous houndstooth print. The shoe is a Manolo Blanik bebe pump classic.
Animal prints galore!
Red is the New Neutral
Oscar de la Renta with bold black jewelry.
My favorite garment of the preview features this waterproof red cape – makes me feel like a fashionsita superhero – #comicconwithdrawals
This look is interesting–by far the most curious of the day – inspired by Roman Catholicism and the ornate stained glass found in churches. Growing up, my poor parents had to take coloring books and snacks for me to make it through mass. This was a time before the church “family rooms.” I love God and everything, but I can totally understand that there is something about stained glass and old church architecture that can get distracting – it’s just so darn ornate and beautiful. Good thing this type of wandering admiration isn’t considered an official deadly sin.
I love jumpsuits and hands down, this is my favorite look! This lace noir jumpsuit is brought to you by Diane Von Furstenberg topped with a color blocked Fendi bag. The baguette – highly popularized in Sex in the City television series– is making a comeback! This Fall 2013 has lots to offer for wardrobe curating and I’m excited to start translating style for the tanchi!
It was such a fun-filled day with goodies to take home including a goodie bag and debut Centennial Manhattan cupcake in a mason jar by Yummy Cupcakes SD!

For the fabulous occasion, I wore my favorite dress of all time – a Ted Baker maxi dress. It’s my go-to for weddings and I have no shame in wearing such a timeless piece time and time again! I love it because maxi dresses are a challenging purchase for tanchis – mostly because of height. This is easily tackled with an alteration to the length but where the trouble comes and makes it almost always “untailorable” is the cinch at the torso. Tampering with it – even my favorite “princess dart pinch” can ruin the drapery and is typically a costly alteration. It’s a high price for a dress that no longer is what you expected when purchased, so finding a maxi dress minus the “flow” is exciting. My dress was purchased a few years ago and was expensive, but covers my panza elegantly because of the corset like construction up top. It displays a beautiful garden-like textile designed exclusively for the Ted Baker brad trimmed in bright orange– my first Ted Baker purchase after many years of admiring from afar. Similar is the Aymay – Opulent Bloom Print Maxi Dress. For accessories, I femmed it up with a red rosette headband from the Gap, my tan leather Dolce Vita wedges, and bebe (of course) royal purple and gold large sized studs.
Hasta luego tanchis – until next time, buen provecho (enjoy your meal)!
