Listen Lil’ Jon, in some cases, Turning Down is Necessary
The tanchi persists on wearing a crop top, so let’s carry on with an “intermediate crop top.” So listen Lil’ Jon, we’re going to have a momentary “turn down” for feigned thoughts of indifference, and turn up the crop top wearing to a belly button level.
Fortunately I’m a Fast Learner
The beginner’s crop top was a hit, but a cowl neck and ¾ sleeve for a night out is not so practical. It became most evident when a rando guy at the table asked, “aren’t you hot?” In true tanchi nature, I could only respond with, “of course I’m hot,” while striking a smirk and using a tone as to indicate I had cleverly twisted his words into a pun. #Snickery&Cheesy #SocialSkillsAtTheirBest
The Madonna Bustier
For the turning up occasion, turn to bebe. I walked in and grabbed the first crop top I saw. I was going for it. On my way into the dressing room, I grabbed a long maxi skirt, (baby steps remember), so as to not have to do this half naked. I stripped down and unsnapped the bustier, jeweled in the front as though Madonna had left her trace. Next, I put it around my chest. I snapped the back and went for the skirt. I zipped it down, stepped into it, and zipped it back up on my waist. And I couldn’t believe it, I looked and felt beautiful, this was most unexpected.
The Power of a Crop Top
I stood there just staring in front of the mirror for a little bit. Part of me checking myself out, and another part getting over the disbelief that I was actually wearing a crop top and looking really dayum good in it.
How can this be? I am tanchi and I have a panza, so that’s two things going against me in this latest trend. Here’s how. This crop top is more of a bustier, kind of like a less severe corset. No matter what size a woman is, she will always look good in a corset. Blame it on the anatomy of the garment, which is designed to suck everything in.
Naturally, a bustier pushes up a female’s gifts in a favorable manner while slimming everything beneath it. The length of this bustier (size M) was longer than a bralette (think Madonna’s 80s sparkling bra staple), but short enough to accentuate a half inch of skin between the high-waisted maxi skirt. In the case that a gentlemen decided to take me out for dancing and I raised my arms up, that belly button was going to show, but only for a few seconds. I could live with that.
So Now We Can Continue to “Turn Down for What”
For a night out, the bustier was paired with an orange colored open side maxi skirt, ample enough for a good shuffle sesh and still retaining that goddess quality to counter the 80s Madonna happening up top. So excited for this outfit to be worn, a trip to the tailor was momentarily skipped for a hem at the bottom.
I wore the tallest platform pumps I own and hoped for the best. Mrs. Lee shook her head the following Monday when I dropped off a skirt with a bottom rim coated in dirt and blackness to the cleaners. I wasn’t fooling anyone; I had turned down for nothing because indifference vanished. ‘Like a virgin, touched by the very first time,’ there was no going back. For my next night out, I was going all the way with the crop top. It’s going to get turned up higher.
xoxo, la tanchi.
Thank you for the photos Bianca!
